Searching for Churches in Haslet
So you just moved to Haslet, TX and did a Google search on churches in Haslet. A nu mber of search results pop up and now you are wondering where to start. There are many great options but each church in Haslet has its unique niche and style.
I don’t know about you, but I grew up going to the same church for almost 20 years. When I left home to attend college and eventually start my first job, I had to do something that I had never had to do before, look for a new church home. All I knew was to find something that looked like what I grew up going to, but I also wanted to branch out a little and find what was right for me.
How do you even begin to look for a new church in Haslet, TX? So often we compile a list of church and began the process of elimination, attending each one, crossing off the list those that don’t fit. What if you knew what to look for going in? What would you even begin to ask? Here are a list of some questions that I would challenge you to ask when choosing a church for you and your family?
Here are some Question To Ask
What are the foundational doctrinal beliefs?
Does the Haslet church you are thinking about attending line up with, not just what you think is right, but God says is right? A person should know what the church believes before they even go there to check it out. I would say that if a church doesn’t have their beliefs on their web page or in a place where you can see them, then that is a red flag. You should know what any of churches in Haslet believe about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Salvation, the Bible and Humanity.
At Vantage Point Church, we want people to know what they are walking into when it comes to the foundational truths of what we believe. If there is misalignment in this area, then you will find it harder to get on board with where the church is going. We make our foundational truth simple but clear. You can check out the “What We Believe” tab under About VP. If you have further questions about the beliefs of our church serving the Haslet area, please feel free to email me, Pastor Dustin Jones – firstname.lastname@example.org.
How does you get plugged in a new Haslet church?
It is one thing to attend church, but it is an entirely different thing to get plugged into being a functioning part of the church body–whether with others or serving. At Vantage Point, we truly want to help people get connected to more than a worship gathering. It is our hope to help people understand and engage their relationship with God, but we also want to walk people down the road of being in relationships with other people and where they can best begin serving using their individual gifts.
One way we do this is through our Discover Vantage Point Class. This class a time for you to fellowship with others who are searching out answers about churches in Haslet over a meal either after service or at the Pastor’s house. During our time together you will hear the vision and values and learn a little more about the church. We also want get to know you a little better. We want to hear what you are looking for and help get you plugged into the place where you can be equipped as well as where you will best equip others.
How do you promote serving others as a church in Haslet?
A great questions to ask when stepping into a church has to do with the overall mission of the church. Is the church simply going to be another church of many other churches that one can chose from, or are you going to be a part of a church that is on the move making a difference in Haslet, Fort Worth, Texas and even across the globe.
When we began Vantage Point Church, we chose to plant in Haslet, TX, because of the potential for transformation we saw in this area. The foundational question behind our launch was “What would it look like not to just be another church in the area, but to church the Haslet area?”
Vantage Point exists not for the purpose of having merely having another church in the Fort Worth area, but for the purpose that God set out for the church, that is to “go and make disciples of all nations…”(Matthew 28:19). We truly believe that if we are going to be the church that God called us to be then we have some work to do – at home in the immediate body, in our local city of Haslet and Fort Worth, but also knowing that we are called to the ends of the earth.
Vantage Point is raising up disciples that also see their domain (aka sphere of influence)–that specific place to that God has established for us to be daily – whether it is a place of business, economics, education, the creative arts, or being a stay at home mom – this place is where God has called you to share the gospel of Jesus. When men, women, teenagers and even kids see how God is called them where they are to preach the gospel, then we will begin to see how the church, the disciples of Jesus, exist and make a difference in all of society.
What is your philosophy of Kid’s ministry and reaching kids in Haslet?
“Jesus loves the little children of the world!” says the age old song. Young kids are impressionable and are soaking in so much information these days that is shaping their lives. What your children learn at church is important.
This is why we take serious the environment your kids are in on Sunday mornings. Early in the life of Vantage Point we saw that God was bringing us many families that had lots of kids. This trend is still apparent every week. As we began watching our kids attendance grow we new that we had to be ready to minister to kids in a way that is on their level. We don’t believe that adults are the only ones that need to be equipped, but we to have to raise up your kids to love God and live as His kids.
Sunday mornings for us is not just about providing a glorified day care so that parents can drop off their kids and go to the main worship service. KidCo, our children’s ministry at our Haslet location, is a community for kids to learn about God in a language they understand and to worship with other kids their age. Our kids are currently broken down into Babies, Toddlers, Preschool, Kinder through 2nd grade and 3rd through 5th grade. For more information on each of our KidCo see the this section on our website.
With other churches in Haslet, what unique calling and focus does this church have?
I have been in church for a while. When you grow up in church, so often you focus is simply on that – the church. Everything is based around making the church bigger and better. The mentality is “If you build it, they will come!”
As God began working my heart as a young church planter, God put incredible leaders in my life that challenged starting a church with the typical “Church Model” – build a church and people will show up. But what are they showing up to do—merely churchy activities?
At Vantage Point, we don’t start with the church building or Sunday morning show! We start with the understanding that God’s Kingdom at hand. God is working here on earth! God doesn’t want to be just near to you, He wants to work through you.
Because of this understanding, we focus on teaching you how to see God at work to have ouy join Him in what He is already doing. This is what you were created for!
As you do this, something incredible happens – and we continue to see this – transformation happens and you’ll be amazed at how God uses you! You’ll actually become a part of what God is passionate about you doing – making disciples. At Vantage Point, we never want to have a bigger church for the sake of size itself. We want to grow because you and your family have learned the importance of joining God in His desire to reach people and make disciples. As people visit Vantage Point Church and start walking as a follower of Jesus, time and time again we have seen this transformation—they realize life is bigger than them and want to serve others. Our people began to come up with ways to serve the homeless and minister to their neighbors.
Why doesn’t Vantage Point Have a building in Haslet yet?
Vantage Point is a young and growing church that began only 3 years ago in my house. We knew that in time God would transitions us out of the house and into the next place. In February of 2014 that place was our current location, the Xplor Day Care, located in the incredible community of Sendera Ranch, in Haslet, TX.
God has provided this location as a perfect place for us to get established as a church body and to learn what it means to be a church in a community for the community. In our current location, we don’t have to worry about a huge mortgage payment and paying the bills every month. Because of this, we are able to focus our budgeting more on ministry and missional opportunities.
However, we do not see this being a long-term location. As we grow in attendance and finances, we trust that God will show us again what the next transition is. We don’t know when that will be, but at the rate we are currently growing, we know that is in our future.
Do you see yourself being connecting and committed for longer than the current sermon series?
In my years of ministry I watch people treat the church like a middle kid treats dating. One week they like this girl, but next week it is a different flavor. I read a book once called, “Stop Dating the Church”. In this book, the author challenged people to take serious their calling to be connected and committed to the Church.
Whatever Haslet church you are looking to attend, do you see yourself:
- connecting and growing in your walk with God?
- walking in relationships with others in Biblical community?
- using your gifts and passions to serve and build up the body of believers?
All three of these are crucial if you plan on sticking around longer than the current sermon series. Get plugged to whichever of the churches in Haslet God leads you to!
I hope these question help your as you do your search for a new church in Haslet. There are many great churches in Haslet. We’d love to have you visit Vantage Point, but if we are not where God is calling, we want to see you get connected to one of the churches in Haslet!
If you have any other questions about getting connected at Vantage Point, we would love to talk with you!
